WHO WE ARE
About TierraMar
Science Institute
Conservation informed through science.
TierraMar Science Institute was established to protect working and natural landscapes and to advance the scientific fields of conservation and land management through research and education. We partner with agriculture producers and managers of working landscapes to pursue our conservation goals. Our mission at TierraMar Science Institute is to protect sensitive habits and resources, advance important research, promote conservation education, and encourage students to pursue careers in conservation science.
We seek to inform restoration and conservation efforts through the best available science and to create a network of protected natural and agricultural landscapes. Learn more about our community and how to get involved!

Where We Conserve
Our community focuses on the Western United States, including Alaska, for conservation easements and research, but we also ensure a nationwide impact through our academic scholarships.
Our Focus
Our unique strategy sets us apart. TierraMar Science Institute takes a different approach. We believe in maximizing our impact by dedicating our areas of service where they count most. Our focus is on conservation, coupled with research and education. We provide research grants, academic scholarships, and funding to better understand and to protect at-risk ecosystems.

We are an all-volunteer community. Because of that, all donations go directly to support our mission rather than to administrative overhead. Every member of our board and Science Advisory Committee is here because we believe in the work we are doing and in the importance of conservation.
